Roulette Systems: Why None of Them Beat the Wheel
Martingale, Fibonacci and D’Alembert, explained with the maths that sinks them.
Key takeaways
- Every bet carries the same edge; systems only reorder the losses
- Martingale hits table limits fast
- Pick European wheels: that is the only edge you control
Martingale
Double the stake after each loss. It wins small amounts often, until a losing streak meets the table limit or your budget. Ten losses in a row on red, which happens about once every 800 sequences, turns a $5 bet into a $5,120 bet.
Why systems cannot work
Each spin is independent and each bet has the same negative expectation. Adding negative numbers in a different order still gives a negative sum.
The only roulette decision that changes your expected loss is the wheel: single zero (2.7%) instead of double zero (5.26%).
